On Sunday May 1 the TVOKids team joined long time partner Kids Help Phone for the 2011 Walk for Kids Help Phone. The 5k walk took place at Coronation Park in Toronto and coincided with walks in more than 40 participating communities across Canada. Again this year, TVOKids host Mark Sykes got the crowd warmed up and ready for the walk. He also led the participants as they walked along Lakeshore Boulevard in Toronto.

TVOKids first joined forces with Kids Help Phone back in 2005 to launch the TVOKids Hotline- a live phone-in program for children aged 6 to 11. The Hotline connects kids with a Kids Help Phone counselor, empowering them to talk in a safe environment about tough issues they may be experiencing – from bullying to racism, body image, mental and physical health - and giving them effective coping strategies to deal with real life situations. TVOKids and Kids Help Phone have a shared vision for creating the type of society that we all want to live in, one that nurtures and supports young minds. That’s why we were proud to once again participate in this worthwhile event.
